Both the Obama and Romney campaigns have called off the dogs ahead of Tuesday's eleventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., pulling television ads and silencing surrogates for 24 hours. But even as politics may seem to stop on September 11 itself, the "politics of 9/11" are, more than a decade after al Qaeda struck, always very much in play.
