How Dry We Are

A short-term measure known as the Palmer Z Index says northwest Indiana is experiencing severe drought... with even drier conditions across the other two-thirds of the northern part of the state. Although we might see rain this Monday and Tuesday, the National Weather Service says the eight-to-14 day outlook looks bleak for rainfall potential. Meteorologists say rainfall for the year is below average but deficits for the past 30 days are especially severe.
