10am UPDATE from Indiana State Police: Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 7:00 a.m., a semi pulling a box trailer was coming from the Indiana Toll Road exit ramp onto I-80 west bound when the driver took the curve too fast causing his unsecured load of 42,000 pounds of auto parts to shift. This caused his semi and box trailer to roll onto its driver’s side across all three lanes blocking traffic. The driver sustained minor injuries and was cited for Speed too Fast to Avoid Collision and Unsecure Load.
Troopers say a second semi was west bound in the middle lane when the first semi rolled over in front of him. The driver swerved to the right, then struck the first semi before going off the road down and through a water filled ditch and landed up right in the grassy area just north of the outer shoulder. That semi was loaded with 48,000 pounds of coke material for making steel, and the driver was uninjured, police say.
Indiana State Police say all westbound lanes were closed for about 45 minutes so the first semi could be offloaded.

915am UPDATE from Indiana State Police: We have the inner shoulder and left lane open just east of Ripley. The semi that rolled over was loaded; it will have to be off-loaded before it can be up righted. This is going to take some time so the motoring public should be aware that they can expect prolonged delays in this area. I-94 west bound traffic can still exit off to the Toll Road but those traveling on the Toll Road exiting from Lake Station to go west can expect delays; as the semi is at the split for that exit ramp onto I-80/94. Thank you for your assistance.
All lanes of westbound I-80/94 were closed near the Indiana Toll Road in Lake Station due to a crash this morning. The Indiana Department of Transportation was encouraging motorists to seek alternate routes as you travel westbound on the Borman Expressway near mile 15.5.
Lake Station, Lake County-Senior Trooper Dwayne Halliburton responded to a roll-over crash on west bound I-80 during rush hour traffic, this morning, that completely blocked all traffic.
All lanes west bound were closed for approximately 45 minutes until Warchol’s semi was dragged to the north to let traffic travel on the inner shoulder and left lane. Warchol’s load will have to be off-loaded before the tow truck can up-right and remove his semi.
