Porter County has advanced to the finals in this year' s American Legion State Baseball Tournament. The Porter County region is sponsored by Post 94 of Valparaiso and Post 170 of Chesterton. Manager Joe Kusiak says they had a three-game sweep at Regionals at Plymouth's Nixon Field Sunday, in a double-elimination tournament featuring three teams, South Bend Post 50, Mishawaka Post 161, and Plymouth's Post 27 Porter County is scheduled to play Plymouth Post 27 this Thursday evening (Aug 2, 2012) , 6:30 Central Time, in the state finals which are also being held in Plymouth. The players, 19 and under, on Porter County's team come from Valparaiso, Chesterton, Andrean and South Central High Schools. Sectionals were held at Crown Point last week.

Porter County won the regional tournament in 3 games. First game was against South Bend Post 50 and Porter County won 5-4. Second game was against Mishawaka and Porter County won 3-2. Third game was also against Mishawaka and Porter County won 9-3.
In the first game the score by innings was:
Porter County: 000 030 020 - 5; 12H, 2E
Post 50: 000 101 020 - 4, 8H, 2E
The winning pitcher was Jake Post and the losing pitcher was Conner Brown. Bob Humphreys was credited with the save.
The second game score by innings was:
Mishawaka: 001 000 001 - 2; 7H, 3E
Porter County: 100 200 00x - 3; 8H, 1E
The winning pitcher was Jordan Peterson.
The winning pitcher for the championship game was Bob Humphreys who pitched a complete game.

Jake Post graduated Chesterton High School and signed with Ohio State University on a baseball scholarship. He was also drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 39th round.
Jordan Peterson graduated from Chesterton High School in 2011. He set a school record at St Joseph College by recording 16 strikeouts in a single game. Jordan was voted player of the year in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Bob Humphreys graduated from Chesterton High School and signed St Josephs College. He had the best record for Chesterton High School this year.
Cody Haver graduated from Andrean High School and had a successful career with the 59ers.
