LaPorte County: The LaPorte County Highway Department says road maintenance is scheduled to start today (Tuesday, July 31, 2012) from 7 AM to 4 PM on Joliet Road and will continue throughout the week from Westville City Limits to CR 500 W, weather permitting (that stretch of road is between Westville and LaPorte Municipal Airport).  Starting from the west, intersections on Joliet Road will be closed in hour intervals throughout the day.  Support staff will be on scene closing roads as needed.  Emergency vehicles will be able to get thru.  Drivers are asked to be prepared for frequent stops and slowdowns and to drive with care and caution.  Chip seal extends the life of the road by providing a new wearing surface and by controlling further deterioration.

Porter County: A busy local north-south route will be closed during daytime hours for three days this week for paving. Porter County Highway says Meridian Road will be closed to thru-traffic for asphalt paving by Rieth-Riley Construction from 6am to 4:30 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, between Valparaiso City Limits and US 6. Traffic will be restricted to local residents only.
