Church Officials: Charges Not Expected

Charges are not anticipated with regard to the circumstances that led to the dismissal of First Baptist Church of Hammond pastor Jack Schaap, according to church officials who held a news conference in Hammond Wednesday. Lake County Sheriff John Buncich says an investigation involving alleged misconduct with a juvenile is ongoing, in conjunction with agents of the FBI Merrillville office. Sheriff Buncich says officials with First Baptist Church of Hammond and Hyles Anderson College, which is operated by the church, have been fully cooperative.
