No Perch Fest in Portage

The city of Portage is not putting on a Perch Fest this year. The annual event began in 2009. Mayor James Snyder issued a statement saying the decision was based on budget constraints and financial losses incurred during previous Perch Fests. The mayor also said he feels a community festival should be undertaken by a volunteer not-profit organization similar to Valparaiso's Popcorn Fest and Chesterton’s Oz Fest with the city partnering with such a group. Those interested in heading up a Perch Fest are asked to contact the Portage Event Committee.
