2 Dead in Cantaloupe Salmonella Outbreak

At least two people have died in Kentucky  - and nearly 150 others sickened, 14 in Indiana - in a salmonella outbreak caused by contaminated cantaloupes believed to be out of Indiana. The outbreak has reached 20 states.  State health officials have advised Hoosiers to throw away cantaloupes purchased from July 7 to the present.  The Indiana State Department of Health is investigating farms in southwest Indiana, as well as distributors and retailers, as potential sources.  It's the third outbreak involving cantaloupes in a year and a half.
