Officials say you're probably going to want to hold your ears... as the Chesterton Fire Department's first annual “Lights and Sirens” parade steps off tomorrow (Sat Oct 06) morning, 10am, from the area of Chesterton Middle School.
Division Chief Nate Williams tells us the route will be as follows: north on 8th Street from the area of Chesterton Middle School; when it reaches Broadway, parade will go east/make a right-hand turn, going down Broadway, past the Fire Station all the way up to the Downtown area where the gazebo's at; at the intersection of Calumet, parade will make a right-hand turn and head south on Calumet Avenue to Porter Ave; then make a right-hand turn on Porter Ave, heading back west, ending in the vicinity of Chesterton Middle School where it started.

The event that kicks off Fire Prevention Week is meant to showcase fire vehicles from Chesterton and around northwest Indiana... along with EMS, police cars, hazmat, and emergency responders in general. Everyone is welcome to attend, and the Chesterton Fire Department says ear protection is suggested.
