Four people were taken to a local hospital after an SUV and school bus crashed this afternoon in Porter County. Union Township Assistant Fire Chief Tim Beach says two children on the bus, along with the bus driver, and the driver of the SUV, were injured in the crash that took place around 3:30 this afternoon at 197 North and County Road 500 West. Beach says a total of 20 children were on the bus at the time of the incident, and after the crash they were housed in a nearby garage due to the SUV leaking gas at the scene. Beach says Union Township's School Superintendent was at the scene to assist parents, and multiple agencies also assisted. The cause of the crash and the severity of those injured is unknown at this time.
