DELAWARE LOCALS' SURPRISE AS $10,000 IS SCATTERED OVER TOWN FROM A HELICOPTER AFTER DEAD MAN'S FINAL WISH IS GRANTED

Money doesn't just fall out of the sky - except for residents of Lewes, Delaware, who had $10,000 showered over them from above on Saturday afternoon.  A helicopter appeared in the sky over the Lewes Harbor and hovered there for five minutes divesting itself of the cash, then flew off.  The windfall came courtesy of Leonard Maull, who owned a bait and tackle shop in the town before his death last year.  Maull left specific instructions in his will for $10,000 in $5, $10, $20 and $50 notes to be dropped from an aircraft over the Lewes Marina on the first anniversary of his death.  Staff at the Irish Eyes pub were working their Saturday afternoon shift when they noticed the helicopter approaching.  Server Tina Chaippini told the Cape Gazette that people were running towards the helicopter and returning with fistfuls of money.  Local police were aware of the plan and sent an officer to the marina to ensure nothing got out of hand.

OWNER OF JOHN LENNON TOOTH HOPING TO CLONE THE LATE BEATLE

Imagine John Lennon's clone walking the planet.  That's just what the Canadian dentist who in 2011 paid more than $30,000 at a U.K. auction for a rotted tooth that once belonged to the late Beatle is hoping will one day become a reality.  Dr. Michael Zuk announced via a press release that he's turned over the molar to U.S. scientists so they can determine whether Lennon's genetic code can be extracted from it.  "I am nervous and excited at the possibility that we will be able to fully sequence John Lennon's DNA, very soon I hope," says Zuk in a statement.  "With researchers working on ways to clone mammoths, the same technology certainly could make human cloning a reality."  The dentist added that "to potentially say I had a small part in bringing back one of rock's greatest stars would be mind-blowing."

KELLY CLARKSON: I CANCELED MY WEDDING, WILL ELOPE

Kelly Clarkson’s October wedding to Brandon Blackstock is no more.  Clarkson says she and her fiancé have canceled their plans and decided to elope.  “We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, ‘So, we change our minds and we want to elope.’  We just got so overwhelmed by it – all the decisions,” she tells People.  Clarkson continues, “We sent out a save-the-date to everyone and then it got crazy and all the details were leaking.”

12-YEAR-OLD GIRL TALKS ABOUT BEING ATTACKED BY A BEAR

As 12-year-old Abby Wetherell headed toward home from an evening jog on her grandfather's woodsy property in northern Michigan, a terrifying sight caught her eye: a black bear was chasing her. The bear knocked the girl down twice and lashed one of her thighs with its powerful paws as she screamed for help, then played dead. Her father and a neighbor scared the animal away, and Abby was flown to a hospital, where she was doing well after surgery. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources set traps in the area of the Thursday night attack in Wexford County's Haring Township, just north of Cadillac, and asked the public to be on the lookout.

Hulk Hogan has said he wants Chris Hemsworth to play him in an upcoming movie about his life and career.  Hogan revealed that two upcoming Hollywood writers are penning the biopic and have already "nailed" a four-page outline "like they were living in my shoes." Speaking to the Cape Breton Post, Hogan played down the notion that his son Nick could play him and instead suggested Hemsworth as an alternative.  "I think we need a serious, serious actor that knows what he's doing," he said.  "You know who I thought would be good?  That guy that did that action movie, Thor."

STUDENT SINKS A HALF-COURT SHOT TO WIN FREE TUITION ON DAY ONE

Sometimes an opportunity comes along and you just have to take a shot.  And just one day into the new school year, that's exactly what Indiana freshman Markus Burden did.  During a “Welcome Week” event for Ball State University students, the 18-year-old from Frankfort, Illinois managed to rise to the challenge and sank a basketball from the half-way line.  His efforts paid off and his shot won him free tuition for his spring semester.
