PAULA DEEN ISSUES SECOND APOLOGY

On Friday, celebrity chef Paula Deen was sacked from her job at the Food Network despite begging the public for forgiveness over her past use of racial slurs in a heavily-edited video apology. A Food Network spokesman issued this statement Friday: "Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month." Deen currently has three regular shows on the network, including Paula’s Best Dishes. It came just hours after she released the 45-second video in which she says: " I have made plenty of mistakes along the way but I beg you, my children, my fans, my team, my partners, I beg for your forgiveness. Please forgive me for the mistakes that I've made." The 66-year-old was due to appear on the Today show Friday morning but she pulled out just before the show started.

TWINKIES ARE BACK...ALMOST

Hostess is betting on a sweet comeback for Twinkies when they return to shelves next month. The company that went bankrupt after an acrimonious fight with its unionized workers last year is back up and running under new owners and a leaner structure. It says it plans to have Twinkies and other snack cakes back on shelves starting July 15.

Will Smith will not appear in Independence Day 2, it has been revealed. Director Roland Emmerich admitted that the actor, who starred in the original movie as Captain Steven Hiller in 1996, is "too expensive." The Independence Day sequel was confirmed by 20th Century Fox last week, with a release date set for July 3, 2015. "Will Smith cannot come back because he's too expensive. But he'd also be too much of a marquee name. It would be too much,"
