State troopers made 102 DUI arrests in Indiana over a two day period last week as part of the six state high visibility effort to get intoxicated drivers off Indiana highways. Sgt. Ann Wojas, Public Information Officer of the Indiana State Police Lowell post, said Troopers in the Lowell district, which includes Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski and Starke counties, arrested eleven drivers for Operating While Intoxicated. Two for Reckless Driving and issued 198 total tickets with 30 being for restraint violations. In addition troopers removed twenty-one suspended drivers from Hoosier roadways and issued 132 warnings. They also made twelve criminal arrests over the two day period. There were 10 commercial motor vehicles inspected with seven violations found. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver.
