Beware the bogus car ad... if a feels like a 'steal' it could turn into a really bad deal for the buyer, says Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller, who's warning consumers that an ultra-low price tag on a vehicle advertised online could be hiding a scam. Zoeller says his office has gotten complaints from Hoosiers who have wired payments for cars listed online later to realize the vehicles were never shipped and the sellers can’t be reached. … and just like rental property scams, Zoeller says criminals can hijack legitimate car listings, change the contact information and then list the modified ads on another site; or they make up listings for vehicles that aren’t for sale or don’t exist.
