Police in Michigan City are alerting residents to the report of two men trying to enter someone's home in the 900 block of Elm Street Tuesday by saying they were police and wanted to come inside to talk to the homeowner, one producing a gold badge similar to law enforcement, the other man showing a star-style badge, but neither in a uniform.  Police say the man produced the badges from their shirt pockets.  Michigan City Police Lt. Cary Brinkman says the homeowner indicated he was calling police and the men left, possibly in a dark-colored vehicle.
