Three people from Wakarusa, Indiana, were rescued from Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon... just before the Super Boat Grand Prix powerboat race near Washington Park in Michigan City was scheduled to start. Officials say the family was thrown from a personal watercraft they couldn't restart, and the owner, along with his wife and son, were being pushed by hard-pounding eight-foot waves along the craggy rocks of the lighthouse pier. Indiana Conservation officers and the US Coast Guard got the three back to shore safely. The Super Boat Race was cancelled soon afterwards due to treacherous lake conditions.
