More Staff Reduces BP Hold Time

Calls from listeners who may have received bad gas told us that had to endure long hour-in-a-half to two hour wait times before being able to talk to a person on the other end of the BP consumers hotline.   In response, to what a spokesperson BP says was "an extremely high call volume this morning," additional staff will be added to reduce hold times, according to a report on WBBM-TV.  The report also says motorists who just topped off their tanks with the tainted gas may only need to add fuel cleaner and fresh gas as opposed to those who may have filled their tank and would need to have their fuel flushed or worse.  According to the BP website, anyone who has encountered car trouble because of bad gas should hold onto their receipts, as the company needs a record of a credit or debit card purchase to provide a refund. BP adds that any consumer who paid cash for the gas is asked to get a mechanic to get a fuel sample from his or her vehicle, so BP can verify where it came from.  The BP consumer hotline number is (800) 333-3991.
