Statements from the United Steelworkers (USW) and US Steel say the two have reached a tentative three-year agreement covering approximately 16-thousand workers at the company's domestic flat-rolled and iron ore mining facilities as well as tubular operations in Lorain, Ohio, and Fairfield, Ala. The two had been negotiating since June for a collective bargaining agreement. The previous contract expired on Saturday. The union says members will vote on the agreement after they review the details over the next few weeks. The USW says one of the most significant issues in this year's talks was health care for retirees, and how to best deal with the rising cost of that coverage.
