Public school teachers in Chicago are on strike today after the union and city school district were unable to reach an agreement over the weekend. The last time there was a teacher strike in Chicago was in 1987, a walkout that lasted 19 days. One-hundred-forty-four schools are open for about four hours today, and they will be providing breakfast and lunch to students. Charter schools will be in session.
