Health Crisis did not have to Happen

The pharmacy that distributed the steroid linked to 91 confirmed cases of a rare form of fungal meningitis is voluntarily recalling all of its products... because of risk of contamination. The F-D-A had previously told health professionals not to use products distributed by the center, a so-called pharmacy compounder, which makes knock-off drugs in conditions not regulated by the F-D-A, says Sheldon Bradshaw, former chief counsel to the government agency.   Bradshaw says "this entire public health crisis could have been averted had the Administration taken more aggressive action in going after these so-called pharmacy compounders, which are really just operating as drug manufacturers."   (story provided by ABC News)
