Trial Date Set For Long Beach Slaying

A trial date has been set for the slaying of a Chicago teen that happened in Long Beach last summer. James Malecek faces felony aggravated battery and involuntary manslaughter and battery both of which are felonies. The trial date is set for April 1st of next year at La Porte Circuit Court. An autopsy of the Chicago teen found brain death after being struck in the head. Police believe the teen may have been trying to break up an altercation before being allegedly punched by Malecek.
