Lake County may be borrowing funds from a neighbor. Published reports say Lake County Board of Commissioners President Gerry Scheub has been in talks with Porter County officials about the possibility of a 15-million-dollar loan to prevent a budget shortfall. Such a loan, they say, would likely be a lower interest rate than what could be found going the traditional route. Porter County received over 170-million dollars from the sale of Porter Memorial Hospital several years ago.
