State transportation officials from Indiana and Illinois have forwarded to the federal government a preferred corridor for the Illiana Expressway, according to the Times today.
The route, officially called “B-3”, starts at I-65 just south of 153rd Avenue, between Cedar Lake and Lowell, as it heads nearly due west toward I-55 in Illinois. Right now the path as drawn is about 16-hundred feet wider than the actual corridor would be, as it would narrow through further study next year, the Times story reports. The Times also says the federal government could approve the route by December or January, or return the report to the states for more study.
