While police continue to investigate the alleged rape of a Hammond real estate agent, police are making sure an incident like that will never happen again. Brian Miller, Hammond Police Chief says Lt. Karl Eidam, Radio Dispatch Supervisor, has a great visitor safety plan to have realtors inform police of the time, the house they are going to show, the name, and maybe the phone number of the person wanting to see the home, and when they expect to leave the showing.
Chief Miller says the information will then be handed off to officers in the area, and if a call from a realtor is not made to say, “they're done”, officers will go to the home being shown to check things out.
The Hammond Police non-emergency number is (219) 853-6490 )
