Gary Man Likely to Face Auto Theft Charges

A 21 year old Gary man could be facing auto theft charges after police arrested him Wednesday night. The Lake County Sheriff's Department reports a radio transmission by the Gary Police Department of a vehicle stolen, at 45th and Broadway, was heard by Detective James Stahl at approximately 8:30pm, who observed the vehicle pass him as it headed north on Broadway. After pulling the vehicle over for a traffic violation, the driver and passenger reportedly fled the vehicle on foot. Authorities report the suspect, Joshua Kirkland, was later located and taken into custody in the area of 24th Avenue and Adams Street.
