Starke County Man Dies Cutting Trees

A rural Starke County man died Sunday after the trunk of a tree that he and his nephew was cutting fell on top of him. The Starke County Coroner's Office reports 69 year old John Nolen died instantly, due to massive blunt force trauma. The Coroner reports Nolen was attempting to guide the tree with rope as his nephew cut the trunk of the tree, when it fell on top of him, trapping him beneath it, just before 3:30 that afternoon.
