Poor winter driving conditions continue to plague central and south Indiana. Caution is advised for drivers headed southbound, south of Remington. The latest from the Indiana State Police:
Currently, Troopers are working several crashes in White County between the 193 mile mark and the 200 mile mark. Roads are described as having a layer of Black Ice. Troopers are also working several slide-off incidents in Clinton County near the Boone Count line in the area between the 158 mile mark and the 148 mile mark. A solid sheet of ice is reported by units at the scene.
I-74 also has several incidents of vehicles that have slid off and some crashes in the area. It is reported to be very slick and a sheet of ice. ISP is working with INDoT to get more salt spread in the area. The worst areas are between the 44 and the 30 mile mark at this point.
As the night goes, it is expected that conditions may deteriorate due to blowing and drifting snow. We again ask that travel be limited tonight to only that which is NECESSARY. It may take some time to respond to new incidents as troopers work from one incident to the next. Don't venture out unless you are prepared for severe winter weather.
