In downtown Whiting, part of 119 Street was still closed this morning after fire breaks out Sunday evening in a three-story building at 119th and Sheridan, displacing several residents. The building houses a dress shop and several apartments. There was no word of any injuries. Fire crews were reportedly still on scene this morning, putting out and looking for hot spots. No word on possible cause at this hour.
Donations will be taken at the Whiting Elks on 119th St. From 9 til 12 Today (Jan 21st.) for the families affected by the fire on 119th St. . Food, giftcards, clothes or monetary donations. Update on sizes needed for fire victims. Mens 2x Womens 2x boys 24month &2T boys 10 yr. old 12 slim pants Med. tops. The donation drive was put together by sixth-grade girls at St. John the Baptist.
