Indiana Governor Mike Pence ended his first full week as Governor in Northwest Indiana, making stops this afternoon in Merrillville and Valparaiso. The Governor's first stop was at the Porter County Career and Technical Center, where he met and greeted faculty and students, as well as area government officials and business leaders, and learned how the Center benefits students as they follow their career path with the skills they have acquired.

Meanwhile in Merrillville, Governor Pence joined executives from Horizon Financial Management, L-L-C, a medical billing company, as they announced plans to invest one-point-nine million dollars to expand their operations, creating up to 216 new jobs by 2016, with the Governor calling the expansion..."the latest proof that Indiana is a cost-effective location for companies to grow and succeed."

Frank Termini, Managing Partner at Horizon Financial Management, says the company plans to lease, renovate, and equip 20-thousand square feet of space in the AmeriPlex at the Crossroads complex, and they anticipate breaking ground in March, and moving operations when construction is expected to be completed in August.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Horizon Financial Management up to one-million-900-thousand dollars in conditional tax credits, and up to 100-thousand in training grants, and the City of Merrillville approved an additional property tax abatement.
