Across Lake County and elsewhere in the Region… volunteers trying to determine the number of homeless people in northwest Indiana. The Continuum of Care Network of Northwest Indiana conducted a street count of homeless individuals Wednesday as part of the 2013 Point-In-Time Count coordinated by Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the state housing finance agency, and the Local Regional Planning Council. Gary city officials say the effort included a count of homeless persons throughout the nation on the same day.
