They're digging out from about twenty inches of snow in the Texas panhandle.... but here in the Region, it looks like rain... mostly rain, anyway, because we are expecting snow and freezing rain, too.  Much of northwest Indiana isn't even under an advisory, though Chicago and northern Indiana are. We asked Valparaiso University Meteorology Professor Dr. Bart Wolf about the outlook from the Chicago National Weather Service, and Dr. Wolf said from his understanding, meteorologists believe it will be too warm locally in the low levels in this storm for many of us to have advisory-level precipitation, but we will have rain, gradually changing to snow as the day goes on.  Dr. Wolf also says the storm has been slowly weakening as it travels to the northeast, and was much more intense when it was impacting Texas.  "Interestingly," Dr. Wolf noted, "we'll probably get as much liquid precipitation as they did, it's just that theirs came down as snow," and in the Region we're seeing the cold rain.
