A committee hearing scheduled for today regarding Griffith's attempt to leave Calumet Township was canceled due to the snowstorm preventing travel to Indianapolis, according to the Times. Town officials are hoping it'll be rescheduled for next week. The measure has moved to the Senate after being approved by the Indiana House last month. The town says they send significantly more in tax dollars to the township than they get back. The measure would allow voters in town to hold a referendum and vote on whether or not to leave the township.
