Indiana Department of Workforce Development News Release (Friday Dec 21 2012) -- Indiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady in November at 8.0 percent. Governor Urges Moment of Reflection

At the request of Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is urging Hoosiers to pause for a moment of reflection this morning (Friday) at 9:30 a.m. EST, 8:30 a.m. Central Standard Time, to remember the victims of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Malloy has issued a proclamation declaring today as a Day of Mourning in Connecticut, and he also sent letters to all other governors inviting them to ask their citizens to take part by taking a moment to honor the Sandy Hook children and educators.

Four Injured in School Bus Crash

Porter County Sheriff's Police say four people were hurt in a head-on crash involving a school bus loaded with children in the area of 192 N 500 W in Union Township Thursday.  Officers say two children, ages 9 and 10, reported neck pain and were taken to a local hospital.  Public Information Officer Sgt. Road Conditions Vary Across Region


From wet to snowy, road conditions vary across the Region this morning after a winter storm that continues to move across northern Indiana. Duneland Schools Address Violence Rumor

4 Injured in School Bus/SUV Crash

Four people were taken to a local hospital after an SUV and school buses crashed this afternoon in Porter County. Union Township Assistant Fire Chief Tim Beach says two children on the bus, along with the bus driver, and the driver of the SUV, were injured in the crash that took place around 3:30 this afternoon at 197 North and County Road 500 West. Homes Sales Up in U.S NW Indiana

Nwi-dot-com today reports sales figures released by the Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors show single-family existing home sales went up nearly thirty-percent in the Region last month, compared to last year.

ABC News reports sales of existing homes climbed nearly six percent last month, the fastest pace in three years. Nationwide the median price for an existing home was $180,600, up ten percent from a year ago.
