Valparaiso Police Investigate Second Van Incident

Valparaiso Police are investigating the report of a second incident in as many days involving a man driving a white van and approaching a teenager in Beauty Creek Subdivision. Shortly before 4-o'clock Thursday afternoon police say they were called to the area of Kickbush and Knights Bridge Drive after the 15-year-old girl, who was walking home, was asked if she wanted a ride home. The subject was described as a male Hispanic driving a white van with the letter “P”, green or blue in color, on the side of the van. Valparaiso Police have increased patrols in the area of Beauty Creek Subdivision and individuals are asked to call police if they observe suspicious activity in the area.  Police say at about 7:15 Wednesday morning a man driving a white van is reported to have pulled up alongside a 13-year-old girl walking to a school bus stop at Beauty Creek, try to initiate a conversation, then ask the student, “Do you want a lift?” The student declined and continued walking to the bus stop, and officers say the van left the area in an unknown direction. The male subject was described as a white or Hispanic male with a dark goatee.  Police continue to investigate these incidents. Anybody with information is asked to call police at 462-2135 or text information to TIP411 (847-411) and use the key word “Valpo” prior to submitting your information.
