It's a graduation where Gary families will be crossing the stage, capping off the completion of an innovative program to curb truancy. Congratulations will be going out at the Gary Police Department Tuesday evening to some 20 families who have successfully completed Project Rebuild's truancy intervention program. According to the Indiana parenting Institute, Project rebuild is a collaborative effort to a proven solution in addressing the growing problem of truancy in the city of Gary. Some of the project's core partners include Gary City Court, the police department, the Lake County Prosecutor's office and the Indiana Parenting Institute. According to the institute, the program makes a difference by reducing truancy, reuniting families and making the community safer--transforming lives in the process.
