Four motorcyclists from Illinois were arrested on numerous felony charges, while two others eluded arresting officers on Saturday after an incident in Lake County. Police report the Lake County Sheriff's Office received a number of reports of a group of motorcycles driving recklessly while coming out of St. John on southbound US 41. Police say each time officers caught up with the motorcycles, they fled at an extremely high rate of speed, and began weaving in and out of traffic, passing vehicles on the right and left shoulders of the roadway, and even driving at times in the north and southbound lanes on US 41, as they began to enter Cedar Lake.
Cedar Lake Police report, at the intersection of 109th Avenue and US 41, two subjects laid down their motorcycles, one of which slid into a patrol car, while a third motorcyclist was tackled by an officer. Police report three of the motorcyclists were treated and released at an area hospital, while a fourth remains hospitalized for a knee injury. One Cedar Lake officer was also treated and released for minor injuries sustained during the incident.
