Kankakee Valley REMC is reporting 2500 members still without power as of 11:15 a.m. That's down from over 6,700 members who lost power in Starke, Pulaski, Marshall, Porter and Laporte Counties in Monday night's severe storms. Crews are continuing to work in the areas of LaPorte, Starke, Pulaski and Porter County making repairs. The substation in Hanna is still without a transmission feed. NIPSCO is aware of the situation and working to make the repairs. KV REMC crews continue to find broken poles, debris on power lines and downed wires throughout the affected area.
An estimate on the restoration time is not available at this hour. The rural electric cooperative reminds everyone to stay clear of downed power lines and do not attempt to clear debris where there are power lines on the ground. [Photos provided/KV REMC]
