Even in the land of the free, everything comes at a price. ABC News reports you already knew that the cost of living was higher, but did you know how much higher? Mark Dotzour, an economist at Texas A&M says, "homeowners insurance is up 18 percent over the last five years; electricity is up almost ten percent." Dotzour says there are things that are doing down in value; just depends on what you want to buy. For example, appliances are down nine percent; clocks and lamps are down 27 and a half and dishes are down 25. The takeaway: while inflation is relatively low, rising costs are eating into incomes that can't keep up.
