LaPorte County Storm Survey Results

national weather service

Damage assessment results from northwest Indiana by the National Weather Service in Chicago have been posted for LaPorte County. National Weather Service survey crews report corn was flattened and an outbuilding was destroyed about two-miles north of Kingsbury on U-S 35 as a result of straight-line winds estimated around 80 miles per hour. Meteorologists say an extensive swath of damage was surveyed in the Kingsford Heights area, where trees were uprooted and snapped, resulting in damage to homes and vehicles. Widespread tree limb damage was also observed eastward to about five-miles east of Kingsford Heights on U-S 6, which was the result of straight-line winds estimated up to 85 miles per hour.
