Attempted Child Abduction Reported in Lk Co

Lake County Sheriffs Police are investigating the report of an attempted child abduction. Last night around 6-o'clock police say a 10 year old boy indicated he was sitting in front of a church in the 141-hundred block of Elkhart Street in Leroy when a male white subject approached him, asking his name, address and if he was alone. Police say when the child started to walk away, the man reached out and grabbed the child's arm. The child got away. Officers say the suspect is described by the child as 40-50 years of age, gray beard, wearing a bandana, black tank top, black jeans, and black leather gloves, approximately 200 pounds, reportedly getting into a red mid-size sedan which had a plastic bag covering the license plate, driving east on Elkhart Street to Rt 231, turning north.
