The Lake County Sheriffs Marine unit and US Coast Guard rescued a father and daughter from the waters of Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon after they'd gone for a swim and winds, 15-to-20 knots, blew their boat away from them, with two other children still aboard the vessel. Officials say the 46-year-old Mokena (moe-keena) man and his 14-year-old daughter managed to stay together in the water for 45 minutes before rescue crews arrived. With fatigue and water temperatures about 55-60 degrees, they were brought to the Hammond Marina where Hammond fire crews checked their medical conditions and they were released.
