New Uses for Former Warehouse

North Coast Distributing has a brand new facility... and their old one is getting some use by others in the city of Valparaiso. Parks and Recreation asked the Valpo Redevelopment Commission to use the former North Coast building on Silhavy (sill-hay-vee) as a temporary rain site for July for their ten-week outdoor Discovery Day Camp, because the school building that generally serves as their rain site is undergoing some renovations. Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission Executive Director Stuart Summers says the building is on the market, hopefully to a private sector employer, but if that doesn't happen, then the city plans to use the facility for a replacement public works center. In the meantime, other municipal uses have been approved there, like Valparaiso Police K9 training .
