A Purdue student from Lake County is co-piloting a small plane taking off in Arizona today for a three-day women-only air race that criss-crosses the country before finishing in Batavia, Ohio. Amanda Keck, a junior from Crown Point, and captain chantel steele, a recent graduate from Iron Mountain, Michigan, and their ground crew have been preparing for their 27-hundred mile journey for months. The race traces its heritage to Amelia Earhart and her contemporaries.
