The Purdue Board of Trustees will meet at 10 a.m. [Eastern Time] Thursday (June 21) in West Lafayette to vote on the candidate nominated to be the university's 12th president -- and there's widespread speculation it could be Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. France Córdova, Purdue's 11th president, announced last July her intention to leave the office July 15 after five years in the post.
The online Indianapolis Star...indystar-dot-com... and other downstate news agencies were reporting, citing sources, Tuesday afternoon, that Daniels could be named the next president of Purdue. Daniels' second term as governor ends at the end of the year, and is prohibited by term limits from running for re-election this year.
Purdue North Central in Westville will carry the webcast of the announcement on a large screen in the Library-Student Faculty Building Assembly Hall.
