Prosecutors in Lake County, Indiana, Friday filed murder charges against three people – a 49-year-old Gary man, a 62-year-old Portage man and a 62-year-old Harvey, Illinois, man -- in the 1980 shooting death of a Hammond Police officer. Officials say Officer Larry Pucalik was off-duty when he was killed during a robbery attempt at the Holiday Inn on 179th street, just off the Borman expressway, nearly thirty-two years ago. The Times says the investigation was reopened early last year with a joint investigation launched the Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force, and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
