Porter County Sheriffs Police took delivery this week of eight new police vehicles -- marking a new day for the department's patrol cars. Public Information Officer Sgt. Larry LaFlower says there'll be a new look to the car for the Sheriffs Department as traditional Crown Victorias, which are no longer being produced, are gradually phased out of the fleet, and Ford Police Interceptors are coming in, in this case, seven all-wheel-drive sedans and one all-wheel-drive SUV K9 patrol vehicle. The new vehicles are still being customized, getting the window tinting, for instance, and department decals applied. Sgt. LaFlower says the public will get a early preview at the Porter County Fair next week when at least one of the sedans, and maybe also the SUV, will be on display at the Sheriffs Tent, which is the first big tent as you enter the Fair, right to the left.
