Authorities say one person was killed and at least 16-others were injured when a Double Decker Megabus the were riding in on Interstate 55 near Litchfield, Illinois, about 55 miles northeast of St. Louis blew a tire causing the bus to slam into a bridge support Thursday afternoon. Published reports say 20 ambulances and six medical helicopters were on scene transporting the injured to two area hospitals. A spokesperson for Megabus says the bus which departed from Chicago to Kansas City with stops in St, Louis and Columbia, Missouri, was carrying 81 passengers. The wreck has closed down both directions of I-55 in near Litchfield.
