Congratulations to the Northwest Indiana Oilmen,winning the Midwest Collegiate League Championship in their inaugural season. The Oilmen defeated the DeKalb County Liners in two straight games this weekend to capture the crown. The deciding game was played at Oil City Stadium in Whiting. The Midwest Collegiate League is a summer league for college baseball players.

The players, 19 and under, on Porter County's team come from Valparaiso, Chesterton, Andrean and South Central High Schools.
Joe Kusiak, manager of the team, says they worked their way from the Losers Bracket into the title matchup this afternoon. The winner of today's game moves on to Midland, Michigan, for the National Regional Tournament, an eight-team tournament this coming weekend.
