Good news for those who have been calling the Porter County Sheriff's Police concerning a possible door-to-door scam in the Salt Creek Commons area. Sgt. Larry LaFlower Public Information Officer says the sheriff's department were able to catch up with the male subject who was going door-to-door and they discovered that he does work for a legitimate business, Southwestern Advantage, selling books. Sgt. LaFlower says the person also has a valid merchants permit though Porter County that is active for six months. Because a number of Salt Creek Commons residents made calls, LaFlower says the sheriff's office just wanted to make sure, with the information they received, that there was no scam.
