A Union Township woman was seriously burned due to a fire inside a home in the Shorewood Forest subdivision shortly before, noon today. Multiple agencies responded to the report of a structure fire at a two-story home in the 400 block of Pickwick Place. Tim Beach, Assistant Fire Chief of Union Fire Rescue says the woman, who has not been positively identified, is believed to be in her 30's was airlifted to a Chicago hospital with burns reported over 50% of her body. Beach says a brother of the injured woman, also home at the time of the fire, escaped without any injuries. Fire was put out soon after firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire is under investigation and Beach says drivers need to be aware that Shorewood Drive at Pickwick place is reduced to one lane due to the investigation.
